Will Arctic greening counteract the thawing of permafrost?

We will combine observations of changes in Arctic biotic communities from the ITEX network with traits-based knowledge from databases (Tundra Trait team, Global Root Traits Groot, FungalRoot). 

This way, we assess whether the potential for biotic insulation of permafrost is increasing or decreasing across the Arctic, based on observed vegetation trends.
